The American Dream, the Positive Gospel, Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" and other (entrepreneurial) thinking men The paragraph below is a quote from a commentary by Rich Karlgaard entitled "The Gospel of Hope" on his blog "Digital Rules" on Forbes.com First and foremost his article is about the American Dream and the positive gospel. I really recommend you to read it. His essay is rather short. But Rich Karlgaard takes you on a journey to the origins of the American Dream. Don't miss it: http://www.forbes.com/global/2007/1112/020.html I like what he writes about Napoleon Hill and "Think and Grow Rich": "During the worst year of the Great Depression, 1937, a writer named Napoleon Hill picked the positive gospel out of the gutter and lifted the spirits of the country with his bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Riches, wrote Hill, were available to anyone who changed his attitude. "Thoughts are things," he wrote. States Hill's Wikipedia entry: "Hill was a devout Christian and did not see any conflict between his success philosophy and his religious faith. … Hill stated that the success formula required a complete and total understanding of the spirit of giving. He named this concept 'the Golden Rule.'" Read more about the spirit of giving and 'the Golden Rule' in this free ebook edition of "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill
